Interpretable Predictive Models for Healthcare via Rational Logistic Regression
Suttaket, Thiti, Vardhan, L Vivek Harsha, Kok, Stanley
The healthcare sector has experienced a rapid accumulation of digital data recently, especially in the form of electronic health records (EHRs). EHRs constitute a precious resource that IS researchers could utilize for clinical applications (e.g., morbidity prediction). Deep learning seems like the obvious choice to exploit this surfeit of data. However, numerous studies have shown that deep learning does not enjoy the same kind of success on EHR data as it has in other domains; simple models like logistic regression are frequently as good as sophisticated deep learning ones. Inspired by this observation, we develop a novel model called rational logistic regression (RLR) that has standard logistic regression (LR) as its special case (and thus inherits LR's inductive bias that aligns with EHR data). RLR has rational series as its theoretical underpinnings, works on longitudinal time-series data, and learns interpretable patterns. Empirical comparisons on real-world clinical tasks demonstrate RLR's efficacy.

SMARTTECH 2022 - The Second International Conference of Smart Systems and Emerging Technologies
Papers should describe original and unpublished work about the above or related topics. All manuscripts will be reviewed by three members of the program committee. Authors are invited to submit their papers in English of up to 6 double-column pages IEEE format, with up to 2 extra pages with additional fees. The format of the paper should follow IEEE guidelines for the two-column IEEE-sponsored conference proceedings. Templates for Microsoft Word and LaTeX are available here.
Contextual Care Protocol using Neural Networks and Decision Trees
Sinha, Yash Pratyush, Malviya, Pranshu, Panda, Minerva, Ali, Syed Mohd
A contextual care protocol is used by a medical practitioner for patient healthcare, given the context or situation that the specified patient is in. This paper proposes a method to build an automated self-adapting protocol which can help make relevant, early decisions for effective healthcare delivery. The hybrid model leverages neural networks and decision trees. The neural network estimates the chances of each disease and each tree in the decision trees represents care protocol for a disease. These trees are subject to change in case of aberrations found by the diagnosticians. These corrections or prediction errors are clustered into similar groups for scalability and review by the experts. The corrections as suggested by the experts are incorporated into the model.

Report on the 2nd International Conference on Artificial General Intelligence (AGI-09)
Garis, Hugo de (Xiamen University) | Goertzel, Ben (Novamente LLC)
General Intelligence, was held March 6-9 in Arlington, Virginia. Pascal Hitzler chaired the program committee. The first day of the conference featured in-depth tutorials on leading AGI systems and approaches, including introductions to the SOAR, Texai, and OpenCog software, and overviews of the logic-based, reinforcement learning and program-induction approaches to AGI. Following this, the main conference on Saturday and Sunday featured a number of themed sessions: Evaluation and Metrics (chaired by John Laird), Robotics and Embodiment (chaired by Itamar Arel), Cognitive Architectures (chaired by Pei Wang and Stephen Reed), Logical Approaches to AGI (chaired by Selmer Bringsjord), Learning and Reasoning (chaired by Selmer Bringsjord), Speech and Language (chaired by Moshe Looks), and Self-Awareness and Consciousness (chaired by Ben Goertzel). There were fewer industry participants because in early 2009 (due to the global economic crisis) many U.S. firms were restricting On the other hand there was an Emanuel Kitzelmann, Martin Hofmann, and Ute even greater international participation, including Schmid, from the Cognitive Systems Group at the a keynote speech by Juergen Schmidhuber (from University of Bamberg, who work in the AI tradition IDSIA, in Lugano, Switzerland, and the Technical of "inductive programing." Their paper University of Munich) and a large number of presentations described a clever way to reformulate the conclusions from German researchers.

The Second International Conference on Informatics in Control, Automation, and Robotics
These workshops, although quite specialized, have covered areas of great interest for the conference delegates, namely: "Multiagent System Robotics" (MARS), "Biosignal Processing and Classification" (BPC), and "Artificial Neural Networks and Intelligent Information Processing" (ANNIIP). In the program of this conference for publication in the proceedings were included oral presentations (full and for presentation at the conference; papers and short papers) and posters, of these, 166 papers were organized in three simultaneous selected for oral presentation (67 full tracks: "Intelligent Control Systems papers and 99 short papers) and 63 papers and Optimization," "Robotics and Automation," were accepted for poster presentation. Furthermore, less than 60 percent, and the full paper (ICINCO 2005) was held in Barcelona ICINCO 2005 included acceptance ratio was 17 percent.
